Plan Ahead. Protect Their Future. Because They're Family.™

Privacy Policy

Your family's planning information stays yours.

Last updated: July 21, 2026

Our commitment

PawsinTrust™ exists to help families protect the animals they love. The information you entrust to us (caregiver designations, care instructions, veterinary details, uploaded documents) is sensitive and personal. We treat it that way and limit access to what is necessary to operate the platform for you.

We do not sell your information. We do not rent it. We do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. Limited sharing with the service providers we rely on to operate the platform, and with people you explicitly authorize, is described below.

What we collect

  • Account information: your name and email address, used to sign you in and send essential account messages.
  • Planning content: animal profiles, caregiver contacts, care instructions, life events, and review notes you create inside the platform.
  • Uploaded documents: files you upload to your private document vault.
  • Operational data: basic logs (timestamps, error reports) needed to keep the service running securely.

How we protect it

We use layered administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect member information. No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure; we continually work to reduce risk, limit access, and respond to suspected incidents.

  • Encryption in transit and at rest. Traffic between your browser and our servers is protected by TLS. Planning data and uploaded documents are stored on managed cloud infrastructure that encrypts data at rest.
  • Account-scoped access controls. Row-level access controls in our database are configured so that your planning records are returned only for your authenticated account or for people you have explicitly authorized (for example, a time-limited emergency share link you generate). Document downloads use short-lived signed links.
  • Limited operator access. A small number of authorized personnel may have technical access to production systems for support, security, or legal-compliance reasons. Access is limited to what is necessary and is subject to internal controls.
  • Service providers. Our hosting, database, authentication, storage, email, and payment providers may process member information on our behalf under contract. They are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.

How we use your information

We use the information you provide only to:

  • Provide and operate the PawsinTrust platform for you.
  • Send essential account, security, and review-reminder messages.
  • Respond to support requests you initiate.
  • Comply with applicable law.

We do not use your planning content to train third-party AI models, and we do not mine it for advertising profiles.

Sharing

We share information only in these limited cases:

  • With service providers we rely on to host, store, and deliver the platform (for example, our cloud database and email-delivery providers). These providers are bound by contract to handle data only on our instructions.
  • With people you explicitly designate, for example, a caregiver you authorize to view a continuity-of-care plan.
  • When required by law, such as a valid subpoena or court order. We push back on overbroad requests.

We will never sell your personal information, and we will never share it with advertisers or data brokers.

Your rights

You can, at any time:

  • View, edit, or delete the planning information in your account.
  • Remove uploaded documents from your vault.
  • Request a copy of your account data, or request deletion of your account, by emailing us at privacy@pawsintrust.org.

Data retention

We keep your planning information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your planning content and uploaded documents from active systems within 30 days, and from routine backups within 90 days. Limited records may be retained where required by law.

Children

PawsinTrust is intended for adults planning for the animals in their care. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date and, where appropriate, notify you by email. Continued use of the platform after a change indicates acceptance of the updated policy.
